The Statesman pen is a distinctive pen of unrivalled beauty. This pen features a hand-cast engraved inset on the end caps. Colored insets are plated in Black Titanium and are surrounded by a brilliant and very durable Rhodium finish. The rollerball pen features a top quality Schmidt, ceramic tipped cartridge for smooth writing and dependable ink flow. The material is M3 Mokume Gane and has been finished and polished by hand to a high luster.
Mokume-Gane (pronounced Moe-koo-may Gah-nay) is the ancient Japanese metal working technique where layers of contrasting color metals such as copper, brass, nickel silver, gold, and silver are fusion welded with very high heat and pressure into one solid block of metal. Traditional Mokume-Gane is extremely rare and sells for hundreds if not thousands of dollars for a very small quantity. This is not traditional Mokume-Gane. It is M3 Mokume-Gane, which is a new composite material made out of contrasting M3 metals which share the visual characteristics, the wood grain of Mokume-Gane for a fraction of the price. In this case we have used the finest copper and the brightest aluminum to create our version of this ancient art.
In the tradition of fine desk pens, the Statesman pen is not designed for use with the cap attached to the pen. It is perfectly balanced and writes effortlessly.
The Statesman pen accepts standard Schmidt rollerball cartridge refills. They are available at most office supply stores. If you need additional refills, I have a small supply available for purchase.
All pens are handcraft by me in my workshop. The pen you see in the listing is the pen you will receive. There are more than 20 steps involved in making a finished pen. I use more than forty different types of woods and materials from around the world.
This pen was made from a solid piece of wood or material with the grain oriented to match between the two barrels of the pen. It was turned by hand on a lathe.
Your Statesman pen will be presented in its own wooden box with velvet lining.
With daily use, your pen’s wood will darken. To clean and restore the gloss, simply buff with a high quality furniture wax. I use Renaissance wax.
My pens are a joy to collect and also make excellent gifts.
